Well, I think it's great - I have just been able to track business mileage accurately, even when I have lost the exact date and route - I also can retrace my steps from that holiday 8 months ago where I went to a really nice place and forgot the name of it.

Mobileme is certainly worth more than free. Apple doesn't scrape your emails and other data to target adds at you a la Google.
I could see Apple making some features of Mobileme free. I don't think they're just going kill a revenue stream but they could offer a basic free Mobileme account which gives you.

Oh yah, there was one. It was a CD player that was soooo bad hardy a soul bought it and it's barely remembered. I think it happened while Steve was at Next abd the idjuts were in control of of Apple. It may have set a record for a short lifespan, not counting Microsoft's vaporware that was never spawned.

It's always the next "event" apple holds. Oh, I swear it's coming! I just know it! That powerbook g5 is coming, I can smell it. :p
Not to jump on your claim, because everyone has been making the comparison, but there is a bit of a difference. It was well known the G5 was a large, power hungry furnace and we had seen no evidence of a successful miniaturization. We were waiting on engineers to overcome a pretty difficult set of problems.
This time, there is already a chip. It's in machines. Even Apple machines. I could touch it, look at it, even use it in other models. Never was this the case with a mobile G5.

I would really like to see Apple have a laptop cheaper than $1,100, and I think there would be a definite market for the, especially for teenagers looking into getting a Mac. I know that's unlikely, but...
Anyways I hope that the MBPs get the processor update (and a new enclosure) very soon and I really hope the MBs and Mac Minis follow soon after.
I don't get any reason for Apple not too, and I think with Intel it would be possible for Apple to get some cheaper computers out there. It would be nice, but seems unlikely.... *sighs*

I can't see Apple releasing an iDEN compatible phone ever. iDEN (Nextel) is going away by 2010 supposedly, and it'll be just the CDMA and GSM networks. Apple needs to either support both (like the Treo) or stick with GSM so they don't get locked into a single carrier. Cingular's good, but I want to use it with T-Mobile too. Lots of people on Verizon or Sprint want to as well, though it'll be trickier to do that, since the carriers have to make the ESN swaps and they don't want to do that to a phone they don't sell/support (read: make money off of). I do agree that the walkie-talkie function could potentially be used, but all the big networks have a version of it, and Cingular, T-Mobile, and Verizon's are all supposed to be made compatible before too much longer, whereas Sprint/Nextel is keeping both versions of theirs exclusive, which limits it's usefulness.

Sure CDMA has more subscribers (Sprint+Verizon=100M; Cingular+T-Mobile=75M) in the USA, but more in the world are GSM subscribers and I just see the norm having people carrying around their quad-band phones everywhere and working everywhere. Those are just my thoughts, though.

Consider this, the upcoming keynote is NOT given by SJ but by one of the other Apple senior team members - following his (Steve’s) below par performance last time out... Now this news would be bigger than anything else. I’d even suggest that if he shares any floor-time with anyone else things are not looking good!

Wouldn't a new CPU have to be much faster than the equivalent Intel chip to make it worthwhile? Not just equivalent. Wouldn't it have to be able to run previous generation software in emulation for a period of years.
Yes, Arm would have to make significant performance increases. You would need a faster ARM processor than Intel ones if you want to emulate them. So in a year will Arm have a desktop cpu of emulating Intel's current sandybridge processors at a decent speed. I doubt it very much.

I just really haven't seen a compelling reason to spend the money for a tablet PC/Mac.
"You can write on it! And Take Notes!" Yeah...and? I can also spend 50 cents on a notebook and write on that too! Besides, I can type faster than I can write.
"Home automation!" Maybe, if I made over $300,000 a year and could afford the smugness of turning my lights on and off with a computer as opposed to a light switch.
I feel that a tablet to most people is just a giant PDA, and I really don't see myself using it for any other reason than that. I know there are business reasons to have tablets, like for nurses, or production people, etc., but for the average person, what's the revolution? Too much money for too little IMO.

My 3GS is working just fine -- I'm more than content to wait for a real refresh to the iPhone (not some garbage update that keeps the same flawed form factor re: antenna and use of a shattering glass back).
Most people claiming they'll switch won't -- rebuying your Apps for the Android marketplace represents a non-insubstantial hidden cost to switching for many people.

I haven't seen any rumors of this, but I would love to see an Apple-branded Comcast HD/DVR box. My Motorola set-top box already has the killer app that everyone wants to see from a IP-streaming device: HD movies on demand for $4 a pop. But the interface is slow and clunky, and Apple would do a much better job.
As I've said here before, I'm not all that interested in an iTMS TV/movie store unless it replaces my cable, i.e., gives me most of the TV content I want for a flat monthly rate and movies at $4 each.
