The Galant in 2007 was redesigned and had changes to both exterior and interior of the vehicle. They also replaced there sporty version of the GTS with the Ralliart model. Mitsubishi boosted the V6 engine to 258 horsepower. The V6 model also replaced the four-speed transmission to a five-speed. The 2007 Galant also added side airbags as a standard feature to all models.

In 2009 the four-cylinder had a 10.2/7.2-litre/100km for both city and highway driving. The V6 engine had a 12.6/8.0-litre/100km for both city and highway driving and the sporty version had a 12.9/8.2 for both city and highway.

6- It also received four stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for driver and passenger protection in frontal crash tests in 2007.
